Attitude change
Uncategorized August 7th, 2013Well, we had a good couple days of happiness and activity. Things started downhill when the pain patches came off. Today we’re just laying around, which I guess is good for recovery. Just a little sad to see when she’s been so active and excited. Another reason I’m happy to have found this website as without reading other’s input, I would have thought something was wrong. We’re only 6 days in from amputation, so we still have some recovery to go through. She’s still on oral pain meds of course, but obviously they’re not the strength of those patches. Still waiting for results of what was wrong with the leg, crossing all my fingers and toes that it’s not something we’ll still have to worry about.

Aww hang in there. Six days is not a long time, things will pick up quickly in a few days, just wait! And don’t forget, many times when dogs come home after surgery and are very energetic, that’s the pain meds doing their job. They feel invincible at first, it’s not until they gradually settle back into their routine that they get mellow and a little tired. Nevada is doing things in a whole new way, it takes time to build strength and stamina but she’ll get there.
We’re cheering you on, keep us posted.

Simply “ditto” to everything Jerry said! This is perfectly normal….still lots of ups and downs to go….but eventually the “ups” will be consistent!
She’s still in some pain and still recovering from major surgery…..think how “laid out” humans would be if this happened to them!
Whatever the test results are….by removing Nevada’s leg she is free from pain and that will give her the quality she so richly deserves! All sorts of ti e to do nothing but spoil and love and spoil and love some more…..and be with each other!! Now that’s a victory:-) 🙂
Your Nevada is a beautiful girl, post more pnotos when you can.
Stay strong Mom! This is the hard part but it does get better! PROMISE!
